IN PRACTICE

This is how we work.

LTC Logistics runs container transport from Rotterdam to the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France. From 20ft to 45ft HC, loaded at the port's deepsea terminals, roundtrip or one-way, whichever your route calls for. One dedicated planner handles the trip, including VGM and the right terminal slot.

Container transport from Rotterdam is about timing, not distance. A container that reaches the terminal too late costs money before the tractor has even pulled away. So we plan around your cut-off.

We load and unload at the deepsea terminals in Rotterdam: ECT Delta, Euromax, RWG, APM MVII and RST. Each terminal has its own booking system and its own time windows. Our planners know the differences and book the right slot, so the driver does not waste time waiting in line.

From 20ft to 45ft HC, we run every common container type. Reefer with genset and ADR-certified loads fall under separate services, but run on the same planning desk and the same drivers.

The weight of the load often decides the container type just as much as the volume. Heavy cargo often fits better in a 20ft: it keeps you within the maximum load weight per axle and per tractor. Bulky but light cargo calls for a 40ft HC or 45ft HC instead.

For export the trip usually starts at the customer and ends at the terminal, well before the shipping line's closing time. For import it is the reverse: the container comes off the quay and has to reach the consignee on time, with the paperwork already in order before the driver sets off.

Under the SOLAS regulation, every container needs a verified gross mass (VGM) before it can go aboard a sea vessel. We make sure the weight data reaches the terminal and the shipping line in time, so a missing VGM declaration is never the reason a container stays put.

Demurrage and detention start running as soon as a container sits at or near the terminal longer than the free period allows. Demurrage covers the time on the terminal grounds, detention the time the container is in use outside the terminal. How many free days you get differs per shipping line and per terminal: we watch the deadlines and plan around them, so costs do not build up from a missed pickup date.

Sometimes the trip changes at the last minute: a different terminal, an earlier pickup time, an extra inspection. Our planner adjusts, without you having to chase the shipping line or the terminal yourself.

You get one point of contact for the whole trip, from request to delivery. No ticketing system, no call center. Requested today, priced today.

QUESTIONS

Common questions.

Which container types does LTC Logistics carry from Rotterdam?

We run 20ft, 40ft, 40ft HC and 45ft HC containers, plus open top and flat rack for cargo that falls outside the standard size. We arrange reefer with genset and ADR-certified transport as separate services, on the same planning desk. Our planner advises which type best fits your weight and volume.

What is VGM and why is it mandatory?

VGM stands for Verified Gross Mass, the verified gross weight of a container. Under the SOLAS regulation, a container may only go aboard a sea vessel once this weight has been passed to the shipping line. We make sure the weight data reaches the terminal in time.

What happens if a container is picked up from the terminal too late?

Then demurrage or detention costs start to run: demurrage for the time on the terminal grounds, detention for the time the container stays in use outside the terminal. The free period differs per shipping line and terminal. We plan around the deadline, so this never comes as a surprise.

Do you also drive to Germany and Belgium?

From Rotterdam we run containers to destinations in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France, with a daily fixed lane toward the Ruhr area. Roundtrip or one-way: we advise which model fits your route and volume. For destinations outside these regions, we look at what is feasible case by case.

Which container type fits my load?

That depends on weight and volume. Heavy cargo often fits better in a 20ft, because the load weight per axle is the limiting factor. Bulky but light cargo calls for a 40ft HC or 45ft HC instead. Our planner advises based on your specific load.
